Meeting about Parish Council on Thursday

A meeting on Thursday evening is designed to inform parishioners about the Parish Council and encourage participation in the group, writes Brian Byrne.

It will be held in the Parish Centre and will be addressed by Ellie McKeown, who works with the Office for Evangelisation in the Dublin Diocese. Proceedings begin at 7.30pm. All parishioners are welcome to attend.

The first Parish Council was established in Kilcullen in 2005. The second one was elected in 2008.

The Council deals with issues other than the administration or financial management of the Parish. There are 14 members, 12 lay people and two priests. Six of the lay people are elected by nomination and voting (if more than six are nominated) and the others selected to ensure a good balance of age, gender and area representation.
