The florist who fell from the sky
Well, our local floral artist Dave Clancy finally faced the big drop, and made it down safely, writes Brian Byrne.
He psyched himself up through the summer to jumping from an airplane to help fundraise for a Kerry animal charity, AHAR Ireland (Animal Heaven Animal Rescue).
In that he was in very high-flying company, with the likes of Sharon Shannon, Frances Black, Maura Derrane, Honor Heffernan and locally Annie Morris of the Leinster Leader, and his pal Slawek Kowalczyk.
The jump was originally to be held on September 7 but had to be postponed because of bad weather, and was done yesterday at Galway Airport. Participants have to raise a minimum of €480 each in sponsorship, €240 of which went to Skydive Ireland for their management of the dive (Skydive gave a cut-price deal to the charity).
