Childcare sod turning next Saturday

High noon on Saturday next will be a very special time for the Kilcullen Community Childcare & Education Centre, writes Brian Byrne.

That's when the official turning of the sod on the project will take place, carried out by the youngest of the current Naomh Bhride Playgroup attendees and the organisation's leader.

Everybody in the community is invited for tea and cake and celebration of this long-awaited event.

Meantime, in advance of this official moment, the project is flying ahead, with the foundations poured yesterday.

"We're right on schedule," Project Manager Martin Murphy told the Diary as the cement sloshed into the foundation trenches. "The weather has been very good to us, and the dirty part of the job is now done."

So remember, 12 noon, Saturday 19 October. Another great day in a long calendar of them in Kilcullen.
