Grease pollution report made
Concern for wildlifeA report that a 'considerable amount' of grease had been dumped into the Liffey at Kilcullen was made by a resident to Kildare County Council yesterday, writes Brian Byrne.
The apparent pollution was observed by the resident around teatime yesterday, and he informed the Council's emergency services.
The section just downstream of the bridge was where he saw the problem, and he told the Diary that he was concerned about the safety of wildlife in the area.
The normally very clean section of river is home to ducks, swans and a heron.
There are no visible signs this morning of the incident, and the 'large white mass' has likely moved downstream.
