Parish Lotto inaugurated

Lotto Night

There was a fine turnout last evening for the first Parish Lotto draw, which was held in the Parish Centre, writes Brian Byrne.

Nobody won the big prize of €5,000 which had been sponsored by Berney Bros, Saddlers, so it rolls over into next week's draw.

In advance of the draw, Chairman of the Parish Financne Committee Vincent Jennings said the establishment of the Lotto was 'the most important step' taken by the Financial Committee in recent years.

"We anticipate and earnestly hope that the Lotto will provide the foundation and financial stability to enable the parish to manage its financial affairs for this and future generations," he said.

He thanked all those involved in setting it up, and in particular a man who had driven it with 'an unreal commitment and attention to detail', Liam McDonnell.

The Lotto Office is managed by Kathy Flynn, helped by Vivienne Clifford.

In addition to the main Lotto prizes, there are draws for promoters and for those who attend on the night.

Full winner details later.
