Calverstown girl stars in Tinseltown
Fifteen-year-old Aisling Doyle from the Calverstown-based Talented Kids Performing Arts School and Agency has just returned from three months dance tuition in Hollywood, USA—with another scholarship in her pocket, writes Brian Byrne.
Aisling won the initial three months scholarship at the World Championships of Performing Arts last year, and spent this summer in the Millenium Dance Complex under the direction of some of the dance industry's top teachers.
Aisling has been a pupil at the Talented Kids sessions in Kilcullen Community Centre for the past three years.
"We're absolutely proud and thrilled for Aisling," says the school's director, Maureen V Ward. "The instructors at Millennium were so delighted with her progress during the summer that they gave her another scholarship to go back next summer for a month."
Aisling studied ballet, contemporary, jazz, turns and Break dancing, as well as hip hop—her favourite class.
The instructors were all highly experienced dancers, many of them having worked with stars such as the late Michael Jackson, Lady Ga Ga and Beyonce, for instance.
The young Kilcullen dancer also got in some sightseeing, including the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And she got to go to the premiere of the new Harry Potter movie in the famous Grummans Chinese Theatre.
"Aisling is over the moon after the experience and she can't wait to go back next summer," Maureen says.
