Finding things for kids to do

A new website directory for parents and children has just launched in Kildare—www.mykidstime.ie. It is aimed at making it easier for parents to find out what's on after school or at weekends, and includes a searchable list of activities and classes and events around the county.

Full of details of children’s activities, classes, events and services, there are plenty of ideas to keep kids learning and active. According to Jennifer Buttner of Athgarvan, who has just launched the Kildare homepage of the national site, the website 'is created by parents for parents'.

"Mykidstime Kildare is a free resource for families in Kildare," she says. "It contains a full range of listings for activities, classes and clubs for children of all ages, as well as information on services and events for children and families. And if you are a provider of classes, activities or events for families and children, Mykidstime is happy to list you for free."

Parents can also sign up for free monthly e-newsletters with interesting articles, information and suggestions for things to do.

Mykidstime was set up in Galway in 2007, and the organisers are now getting together with parents in other counties to set up local pages.
