Great Daffodil Day

Our annual collection day Friday March 25th 2011 for The Irish Cancer Society was a great success, write Anne Brennan and Nuala Collins on behalf of the ICS.

Again we enjoyed beautiful weather. All the volunteers, young and old, aged seven years to 80+, female and male (we had 2 men) were in good humour with smiling faces. Good to see we had a few new helpers this year. We never forget our deceased volunteers and had them remembered at Mass on Friday morning.

Our supporters in Kilcullen were as generous as ever, even with the poor economy. The Kilcullen Town traders did their part in making our day comfortable, chairs were provided for anyone who wanted to 'sit', cups of coffee, tea etc were handed out, some sold boxes of daffodils in their premises to help and our usual 'sub-bank-depot' was open to us and staff gave of their services. Even the footpath was cleaned of some dog-do in time for our early morning start.

The generosity of people never ceases to amaze. To all these good, kind people we say a big 'thank you' and wish them good health in the coming year. Our collection to date is in the region of €5,000.
