Library reopens

Kilcullen Library has reopened after being closed since some weeks before Christmas while an extension was being built.

The work included the provision of an access ramp, emergency exit, kitchen, store and two toilets, including one for people using wheelchairs.

"I learned a lot about construction, building regs and snag lists during the work," librarian Julie Donoghue grinned as she showed the Diary around. "And there's been a lot of dust to clear up."

She also said the main building is a lot warmer now that the back wall is effectively insulated by the new prefab.

The main building of the Library is a former boys National School and is a listed building.
