Success of Family Mass
The Saturday night Family Mass has become 'the hottest ticket in town', Fr Andrew O'Sullivan said last night when celebrating the last one before the summer break.
It was also his last celebration of that mass, which he inaugurated soon after his arrival in Kilcullen seven years ago. He leaves soon for a three-year stint in Rome to study Canon Law.
"The Saturday evening mass was very poorly attended then," he recalled during last night's celebration. "But when I suggested the family mass, with the children being brought up to the front to play their part, I wasn't sure whether I'd be run out of town or not."
As it turned out, the concept turned out to be a good one, and now the Family Mass is strongly attended.
Fr Andrew thanked the children and the parents who had been involved with the event over his time in Kilcullen. Afterwards there was a get together in the Parish Centre for all concerned.
A Thanksgiving Mass to celebrate Fr Andrew's time in Kilcullen will be held on Thursday evening at 7.30pm. It will be followed by a function in the Parish Centre to which all in the parish are invited.
