Postcard from Suzhou

Kilcullen-born Gary Byrne, a regular contributor to the Diary from the Chinese city of Weifang over the last academic year, will be taking up a new position teaching English and German in the city of Suzhou from next September.

Following a visit this week to his new employers, before flying home for a brief summer holiday, he sent us these views from his next 'home'.











Gary lives in Leitrim when at home in Ireland, but he has spent most of his life teaching abroad, in Africa, the Middle East, and China.
