Summer planting over next two weeks

Town flower tubs to be planted soon.

Kildare County Council has allocated €1,500 to Kilcullen Tidy Towns Committee towards the cost of Summer Planting activities.

At the recent KCA meeting, Noel Clare said there was now a total of around €2,000 for the planting, which he said would 'comfortably' cover the need.

Noting that donations towards the cost of new tubs had been received from Brendan O'Connell and James Nolan, chairman Kieran Forde said some of the existing tubs will have to be disposed of, as they were in a very poor condition (below).

The meeting heard that new tubs have been ordered and would be available by the end of next week.

In the meantime, a survey of the existing tubs is to be undertaken to help decide what plants need to be bought.

A suggestion by Anne O'Connell that the committee should go for 'block' colour instead of 'bits of this and that' was agreed to.
