Adult camogie team mooted

Kilcullen GAA has issued a call for expressions of interest in forming a new adult camogie team. The club’s camogie section has expanded steadily in recent years, with many players now approaching the end of their juvenile careers.

To ensure those players have a pathway into adult competition, the club is exploring the possibility of establishing a senior side. Kilcullen GAA is inviting anyone aged 16 or over in 2026 to get in touch — whether returning to the game, trying camogie for the first time, or newly arrived in the town and looking to get involved.

St Laurence’s Camogie Club fun run

A 5km fundraising fun run and walk, followed by a community bake sale, will be held in Narraghmore on Easter Monday, 6 April, hosted by St Laurence’s Camogie Club.

The run will take place at the Old Hardware in Narraghmore, with the event starting at 12pm. Registration opens from 11.30am, with entry fees of €10 for adults and €5 for children.

The club encourages everyone, including families and walkers of all abilities, to take part, which will conclude with the bake sale. All proceeds support St Laurence’s Camogie Club.

Hurling-Camogie Academy

Kilcullen Hurling-Camogie Academy starts on Saturday mornings, from 10:45 to 11:30, immediately after the Football Academy, writes Martin Sheridan. 

Any boys and girls who want to try hurling and camogie are welcome to attend. No need for helmets or hurleys, as they will be provided. 

Rob Heffernan and Martin Sheridan will be running this over the coming weeks.

Kilcullen camogie U13s win shield

The Kilcullen GAA U13 Camogie team have beaten Sarsfields to win the Division 2 Shield final. 

The scoreline against a very strong visiting side at the Kilcullen venue on Friday night was 2-4 to 1-5.

Skill and determination got them over the line to bring home the silverware.

Scoil Bhríde teams reach Cumann na mBunscol finals

The small ball is certainly thriving in Kilcullen. Two Scoil Bhríde Kilcullen teams will be contesting under 12 finals in Moorefield GAA grounds this Wednesday 12 June. The girls' game starts at 2.10pm and the boys at 3.20pm. Our under 12 Camogie team coached by Ms Burke and Ms McGrath and our hurlers coached by Mr Corish and Mr O’Sullivan are thrilled to have reached a final.

"Both teams have worked so hard — the children's dedication and passion for this game is remarkable," says Ms Burke, while Hurling coach Mr Corish commented "the atmosphere and anticipation in the school is tremendous. It has been wonderful to see the games of Camogie and Hurling going from strength to strength in school and club in recent years."

A good Friday for Kilcullen hurling and camogie

The U12 Shamrocks hurlers had a great win against Confey in the Quarter Finals of the Championship last evening, writes Martin Sheridan. On a very wet evening for hurling the lads put in a huge amount of effort and skill, to finish with a scoreline of Shamrocks 4-4 and Confey 3-3. 

When things got tough and tight the boys held firm and got the win that they deserved. Congrats to all and we are already looking forward to the Semi Final. 

Also our Kilcullen young ladies had a great time out last evening at the Kildare Camogie Presentation Night in Celbridge GAA Club. Grace, Clodagh, Solene and Hannah are getting advice from Saoirse McCarthy, All Ireland Senior Camogie winner with Cork.

Tips for Kilcullen girl in Camogie All Ireland final

Past and present Kilcullen Camogie players Betty, Sue and Erica having a chat last evening, giving Grace Sheridan (left) a few tips before the Under-16 B All Ireland Camogie Final this Saturday.

The throw-in for the Kildare-Derry game is at 1pm, and the venue is Inniskeen Grattans GAA in Kednaminsha, Co Monaghan.

Kildare beat Down in the Semi Finals 5.16-1.02 on 16 July at Abbotstown.
