Picnic on The Green date

This year's Picnic on the Green at Old Kilcullen will be held on Sunday, 16 August 2026, writes Brian Byrne. The free community event, which begins at 2pm, will feature live music, fun sports, raffles, and traditional games including tug of war and egg-and-spoon races. 

Families can also enjoy cream teas, ice cream, a magician, and face painting. A special heritage segment will highlight local history, and all proceeds from the raffle will go towards community projects. 

The event is supported by Kildare County Council and Kildare Credit Union.
