Table in the Valley vandalised

Only a couple of weeks after a full refurbishment of the seated picnic area in The Valley was carried out by Kilcullen Community Action, some person or persons thought it would be a good idea to set fire to the table, writes Brian Byrne. The Gardai are investigating. 

The table was originally installed in 2020 by KCA, and at that time it cost €450 — a replacement today would likely be considerably more.

A KCA member told the Diary that it may be possible to carry out some repairs to the outer surround, but a full repair is not possible.

The area, which is dedicated to the memory of the late Barry Coffey, was cleaned up again on Monday by KCA volunteers.
