Run on petrol stations

There has been a very busy run on filling stations in the Kilcullen and wider region all through today, as fears of petrol shortages due to the blockades of fuel depots have triggered panic buying.

Applegreen in Kilcullen has reported much higher sales than usual, and there are reports that several smaller filling stations across the region have run out of supplies.

The Defence Forces have been asked to help clear the blockades of Whitegate refinery and other large depots, including Galway.

Meanwhile, slow-rolling blockades of the N7 between Naas and Dublin took place this morning and this afternoon, affecting many hundreds of vehicles, including dozens of trucks actually trying to deliver their loads.
