Kilcullen Christmas Festival Shopping Day 2025 arrives
After much planning and preparation, today is the Kilcullen Christmas Festival Shopping Day 2025, organised by Kilcullen Town Promoters, writes Brian Byrne. It's an opportunity for local people to get to know the area's retail and craft businesses at an official Kilcullen start to Christmas.
All participating enterprises will have seasonal goodies and shopping offers, and the Christmas theme will run all through the day from 11am until 6pm. Among the attractions is a shop window Scavenger Hunt for the youngsters: watch out for elves holding alphabet letters, and then make a word from them to get a chance to win a hamper.
The Heritage Centre will host a range of pop-up shops featuring crafts and gifts.
Santa will also be around, visiting An Tearmann in the afternoon and then officially switching on the KCA Christmas Lights at 6.30pm, following entertainment from 6pm by Kilcullen Gospel Choir at Market Square.
A new public artwork commissioned by KCA will be revealed at a launch event in Fallons at 7pm. Also in Fallons, from 7.30pm, a special Doggy Calendar for KWWSPCA will be launched during the Top Dog Table Quiz.
Early rain is expected to clear by mid-morning. It will feel seasonably chilly, so bundle up — those attending the Christmas Lights event are urged to wear bright clothing or hi-viz vests.
The Diary will be out and about throughout the day, chronicling what's happening.
