Collecting Ireland's History

Those interested in Irish historical manuscripts will be interested in a lecture on 8 October as part of the Dublin Festival of History. Collecting Ireland's History will be presented by Dr Sarah Hendriks, curator of the Royal Irish Academy Library's current exhibition, on the various approaches to collecting Irish historical manuscripts over the last 700 years.
The venue is the Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, D02 HH58, and the event is organised in collaboration with the Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland (VRTI) Library Network.
The talk will review the themes of the Collecting Ireland’s History exhibition and explore the relationship between private and institutional collecting to explain how both efforts are being utilised to reconstruct the Public Record Office of Ireland’s archive, destroyed on 30 June 1922.
Admission is free, but tickets should be booked here
