An exhibition of artworks designed to be physically touched or handled is part of the June Fest programme in the Riverbank Arts Centre, writes Brian Byrne. The Touch showing by the Kildare Art Collective will run until 28 June.
Touch is the first sense we develop and helps humans to connect, explore, and understand the world. The artists in the exhibition endeavoured to explore the sense in all its forms — physical, emotional, and symbolic.
As part of this exhibition there is an audio tour and artwork information is available in braille, ensuring that touch becomes a shared experience across different sensory perspectives.
Artist Marta Golubowska will host a Touch and Trace Workshop for adults on Saturday 14 June.
The exhibition is in the McKenna Gallery, and entrance is free.
