Go Purple Day highlights domestic abuse

The Garda initiative against domestic abuse, Go Purple Day, is this coming Friday, 30 May, writes Brian Byrne. The day aims to raise awareness of the issue and the supports available for those experiencing it.
An Garda Síochána encourages you to get involved and support the Go Purple Day campaign by baking purple, sewing purple or wearing purple.
Above all, people should speak to one another about domestic abuse, which could give someone the crucial support they’ve needed to begin to share some of the fear they deal with alone. Perhaps have friends in for tea or hold a coffee morning in the office.
If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic abuse, please contact 999 or 112 or your local Garda station.
