Immram performance for Riverbank

A performance of Neil Ó Lochlainn’s Immram featuring Eithne Ní Chatháin (Inni-K) will take place in Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge on Thursday 3 April. Immram is a suite of poems by Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill first published in her Feis collection (1991). In 2019, Neil Ó Lochlainn was commissioned by poet Paddy Bushe and the Amergin Solstice Poetry Festival to set the poems to music.
Immram roughly translates as ‘Voyage’ and is a type of story found commonly in mythological Irish writing describing a protagonist's journey by sea to the otherworld and the adventures during their voyage. The music brings these poems to life through the Sean-Nós singing style, blending jazz and improvisation with contemporary classical and Irish traditional music.
The musicians are some of Ireland's most talented — Eithne Ní Chatháin (voice), Lucia Mac Partlin (fiddle), Eilís Lavelle (harp) and Neil Ó Lochlainn (double bass, flute, music).
Tickets are priced €18/€15 and can be booked through the Box Office, either in person or by telephone on 045 448327 Monday to Friday 9.30am-5pm (closed for lunch 2-2.30) and Saturday 10am-4pm. Tickets can also be booked 24/7 on riverbank.ie – Online tickets subject to €1.50 booking fee per ticket.
