Two cinema screenings upcoming
A reminder that there are two remaining films to be screened at Kilcullen Bridge Cinema over the next week as part of the Brigid Film Season, writes Teresa Nurse. First up is the family film Wolfwalkers from the award winning Cartoon Saloon in Kilkenny.
Given a five star rating by the critics it is a film “steeped in earth magic and ancient lore that effortlessly repays repeated viewing”. Showing Sunday 16th at 2pm. Tickets are €4 and are on sale in Woodbine Books and on Eventbrite.
Crossing is showing on Tuesday February 18th at 8pm. A beautiful movie from Georgian-Swedish director Levin Akin, set in Istanbul, it tells the story of retired history teacher Lia. In honour of her sister’s dying wish, she travels to Istanbul in search of her trans niece Tekla who has disappeared. Chasing down a sketchy lead, she comes into the orbit of Achi, a feckless young man who squats with his loutish older brother.
A story of unlikely connections with three exquisite performances that vividly transcends generational divides. Crossing has been described as a 'defiant city symphony and a compassionate tale of hope, identity and forgiveness'. Tickets are €7 and are also available in Woodbine Books Kilcullen and on Eventbrite.
