French friends visit historic Kildare

The Saint-Contest group are now close to the finale of their second day of exploring, this time in the historic town of Kildare, writes Brian Byrne. Along with some of their Kilcullen hosts they were brought there in the Community Bus courtesy of Gda Jon Brien.

In Kildare they were given a tour of the Heritage Centre, and a background to the history of St Brigid and the town. A video in French helped give them an understanding before they then visited the Cathedral. Afterwards they took in the National Stud and the related attractions of St Fiachra's Millenium Garden and the Japanese Gardens, two quite different approaches to a nature environment. 

A visit to Kildare Village finished off their afternoon.

Tonight there was dinner in Fallons and a sing-song afterwards, with music provided by Michael Landers.
