Stories or photographs of Patrick Rankin?

A call is out for any stories relating to Patrick Rankin, who came to live in Nicholastown in the early 1940s after periods living in Gilltown and The Curragh, writes Brian Byrne. His grandson Joe Murray and Damien McAlinden are putting together a book about Rankin, famous for cycling from his home town of Newry to Dublin to fight in the Easter Rising.
Damien has been in touch with the Rankin family who have been very helpful, but he also wants to hear from the descendants of John Southwell (1183-1853) and Robert Kelly (1880-1949), also from Newry both of whom sponsored Rankin's recruitment to the Irish Republican Brotherhood. Obviously not with any Kilcullen connections, but Joe and Damien would appreciate having sight of any photographs of Patrick Rankin which may include associations with Sinn Fein, the Irish Volunteers, or the Old IRA. In December 2016, the late Patsy O'Halloran née Rankin of Kilcullen, and other members of the Rankin family, attended the unveiling of a statue in Newry of Patrick, who was her father.
