Another community tree planting at GAA grounds
Community tree planting last February: another one upcoming. |
Another tree-planting at Kilcullen GAA grounds on Saturday next, 30 November, aims to put 2,500 more saplings in the ground, writes Brian Byrne. Everyone in the community is invited to take part in the event, which kicks off at 10am.
The planting is organised by Kilcullen Community Action. Bring a spade and wear your wellies, though this time it should all be easier thanks to the work towards the completion of the Field of Dreams.
Meantime, the trees planted last February are said to be doing exceptionally well. It was a joint initiative of KCA and the GAA, in association with the 100 Million Trees for Ireland project, and attracted many families to help plant more than 2,000 native Irish trees including rowan, birch, oak, Scots pine, crab apple, whitethorn and hazel.
