WhistleBlast Quartet for Riverbank afternoon show

An afternoon concert in the Riverbank Arts Centre on Thursday 24 October will be an ideal way for secondary school pupils and the general public to experience classical and freeform jazz music to a background of shadow puppets, writes Brian Byrne. The event featuring the WhistleBlast Quartet starts at noon on the day, and tickets are €1.
The presentation includes Stravinsky’s Petrushka, which has been arranged by Conor Linehan, and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, arranged by Kenneth Edge. Petrushka is accompanied by the PĂșca Puppets performance.
WhistleBlast features Oonagh Keogh on violin, Conor Linehan on piano, Mary Curran on French horn and Kenneth Edge on saxophone and clarinet. The group has been creating and delivering programming since 2006 and is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland.
Tickets can be booked through the Box Office, either in person or by telephone on 045 448327 Monday to Friday 9.30am-5pm (closed for lunch 2-2.30) and Saturday 10am-1pm.
