Kilcullen at Dublin City Marathon 2024
We don't have a handle on how many Kilcullen people took part in yesterday's Dublin City Marathon, but we are aware of four who did, writes Brian Byrne. Among them was Joe Dooley, pictured with family and friends.
It was Joe's first marathon, in aid of the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland, and he substantially exceeded his sponsorship target.
James and Emma Nolan also took part, in honour of James's late transplant sports championships athlete and very good friend Orla Hogan Ryan, who passed away in August. "Orla ran in all the Mini Marathons at our Sports Championships despite having to overcome several health challenges, including 4 Kidney Transplants," James posted on his Facebook page, "so I felt I had no excuse with regard to the challenge presented by the Dublin City Marathon."
For Mary Walker, well known to customers in Fallons, it was her 20th marathon, and she relaxed with the Kilcullen witches in advance of heading to the city.
Congratulations to all, including the probable many others from the community who took part.
