A cheque for €30,000 was handed over to a representative of the Irish Cancer Society last evening by the Mac & Norman Rally organisers, writes Brian Byrne. The funds were the result of the event held in August that celebrated 22 years of the rally.
The latest cheque brings to more than €610,000 the amount raised since the initiative was begun by the Sully and Egar families of Cannycourt. The funds all go towards advice, services, research and support for for cancer patients and their families. The cheque was accepted last night by Brid, a night nurse with the ICS, who told those present what such donations mean in real terms for those families where cancer strikes.
Last night's presentation was made in The Fox Bar in Dunlavin, with music by Sister Act.
