Dawn Walk registration details

The Kilcullen Dawn Walk in aid of Pieta House will take place this year on Sunday 7 July, writes Brian Byrne. The walk will begin at 6am to New Abbey Stud and there will be breakfast afterwards for participants.

Registration will be at 5.30am on the day in the Town Hall, or pre-registration will be available the evening before, 6 July, between 5pm-6pm. The cost of participation is €10. No dogs are allowed due to the walk going through the stud.

A suicide prevention service, Pieta has seen a rising demand for its services, especially among young people. Up to 100,000 crisis calls a year are received by the charity, and more than a third of the 6,900 clients who received therapy services from Pieta in 2022 were under 18, with 14 being the average age. Some 80pc of Pieta's financial support comes from public donations and participation in fundraising events.
