Road rage and parking fines in Kilcullen

Kilcullen gardai have been issuing fixed penalty notices for illegal parking in Kilcullen in recent months, especially at weekends, writes Brian Byrne.

The recent inaugural meeting of the Kilcullen Business Group heard from local gardai that they had previously 'tried the advice route' with offending motorists, but that 'it didn't work'.

The matter came up in a discussion about traffic and parking, with particular 'pinch points' being the Main Street at Bardons and at the Fountain takeaway. Instances of 'road rage' at the traffic lights were also mentioned, with difficulties there exacerbated by vehicles trying to enter and exit the narrow Back Lane.  

Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer told the meeting that all the road markings on Main Street are to be redone.
