Eclipse day in North America
(Kilcullen, 7.27pm) This is the eclipse of the sun as the moon's shadow made landfall at Mazatlán, Mexico, a short time ago, writes Brian Byrne.
The eclipse is being watched in an arc up through America and into Canada and Newfoundland by millions on the north American continent.
The screenshot is from the NASA live feed which is running through the event.
A partial eclipse may be visible from parts of the west of Ireland, weather permitting.
