Biodiversity equipment grant for KCA
Kilcullen Community Action has been given a grant towards the purchase of a sickle mower and bat detectors, writes Brian Byrne.
The €1,215 grant was announced by Community Foundation Ireland Chief Executive Denise Charlton and Minister Malcolm Noonan TD in a tranche of funding to help with implementing Biodiversity Action Plans around the country.
Sickle mowers are designed for cutting long grass and shrubs in paddocks, orchards and gardens, especially in difficult areas. The mower will be used in the care of wildflower areas that have been established over recent years.
The bat detectors will be used to survey bats along the Liffey area in Kilcullen.
Biodiversity plan implementation grants were also given to Ballyshannon and Narraghmore.
