Monthly open meetings of KCA scheduled
Open meetings of Kilcullen Community Action are to be held every Tuesday through this year, in the Heritage Centre, writes Brian Byrne. At the first meeting of 2024, held last evening because the Tuesday night had been reserved for the Kilcullen Bridge Cinema screening, the group’s chair Ann Cashman said there are a lot of projects upcoming, and new members will be very welcome to help out. “The regular meetings will provide consistency and an opportunity for anyone to discuss ideas or update on projects," she said.
A programme of projects and works that need to be done is to be circulated later this week, and anyone interested in any aspect of KCA’s work is invited to get in touch through any member. Commenting on the volunteers who turn out on Saturday mornings to pick litter, Ann Cashman said that their ‘fabulous work’ can give people the impression that the group is all about picking litter, but there’s lots more done by KCA to keep the town looking well. “Sometimes there’s a perception amongst the public that it’s all done by Kildare County Council,” she suggested.
A newsletter is planned for March or April to update the community on the breadth of this work. The meeting heard that it will include details of the activities of the group over the last 12 months.
