Local Link enhanced services between Naas and Carlow

From Monday week, 29 January, the TFI Local Link will be providing seven daily return route 880 services between Naas and Carlow each weekday, and five daily returns on Sundays, writes Brian Byrne. There will also be a late evening return service on Fridays and Saturdays.
According to the operator, the route is designed to offer enhanced connectivity to villages and areas including Castledermot, Moone, Timolin, Balitore, Carrig Glen, Ballyshannon, Kilcullen, Two Mile House and Killashee.
TFI Local Link Kildare South Dublin General Manager Alan Kerry,  says the initiative will offer 'a real and tangible alternative to private car dependency' for people resident along the route. He says it has been timetabled to connect with local train services, along with peak time arrivals into both Carlow and Naas "to accommodate employment and education needs along with evening and weekend schedules to provide people with sustainable access to their social activities."
The new schedule is also claimed to improve connectivity to Naas Hospital and regional bus services.
Along with recent reductions in public transport fares and the expansion of the Young Adult Card for those up to the age of 25, it is hoped that the route will encourage more people to adopt public transport in rural Kildare.
