Icy weather alert

An advisory warning of sharp or severe frost for the next week has been issued on the Kildare Alerts system, writes Brian Byrne.

The alert, valid from 3pm today through to 10pm next Friday, also warns of icy patches and dense fog at times, leading to hazardous or dangerous travelling conditions.

Locally, people out walking should be aware of slippery conditions underfoot, especially during daylight when shaded footpaths may not have thawed in the sun.
