Railing theft from graveyard

A railing has been stolen from one of the turnstile gates at New Abbey Graveyard, writes Brian Byrne. It's unclear when the theft occurred, but it was there at the start of the month. 

The railing inside the gate was removable and sometimes taken down when large crowds were expected, such as during the Blessing of the Graves. 

"We have searched the area around, but there's no sign," says caretaker John Brady. "It's not even worth anything as scrap, given the low price for scrap metal at the moment." 

He's urging those responsible to return the piece, "before there's a knock on your door."
