'Herself' opens Brigid film season tonight
A reminder that the Kilcullen Bridge Cinema Brigid 1500 film season begins this evening with Herself, writes Brian Byrne. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia!) it is the story of a Dublin cleaner trying to make a new life.
Starring Clare Dunne, Herself is a story of female empowerment and community and is a compelling drama. Giving it four stars in the Irish Times, Donald Clarke described it as “irresistible". This evening's event begins at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be served and Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer will speak.
Supported by Kildare County Council, and in association with Access Cinema, the Brigid 1500 Kilcullen cinema season through February includes a range of films with themes of empowerment, social justice, spirituality, equality and inclusion.
All tickets for the season are €5 and tickets for the Family Cinema Day are €4. Available in Woodbine Books and on Eventbrite.
