Appeal against solar farm permission

The Harristown Coughlanstown Community Group is to appeal a decision by Kildare planners to allow a large solar farm project in their area. The permission for the proposal by Delamain Delamain Solar Farms Ltd was announced this week, subject to 22 conditions.

A member of the group told the Diary that the timing of it 'is not ideal for us', with the deadline date officially being St Stephen's Day. "But we are definitely appealing, and we would like to have our appeal in before Christmas." The spokesperson noted that the official deadline on the ABP website is 3 January.

The application made last summer was for a solar farm project with a total area of circa 246 hectares in townlands from Brannockstown across to Corbally.
