Steady improvement for Kilcullen on last year's Tidy Towns


Kilcullen was awarded 356 out of a possible 550 marks in the Supervalu Tidy Towns Competition 2023, an increase of 18 marks on the town's 222 results, writes Brian Byrne
Points were improved in every one of the seven areas under with judging of the competition is done. The improvement helped win a county Bronze medal for the community.
Marks awarded to adjacent communities included 333 to Calverstown (B category winner), 295 to Brannockstown, and 280 to Narraghmore.
In Kilcullen's size D category the town was in third place after Kill (369) and Rathangan (362). The highest score in the county was Naas with 370 marks. Other category winners were Carbury (A) with 313, Broadford (C) with 356, Clane (E) with 368, and Leixlip (G) with 361).
Thanking all the Tidy Towns committees throughout the county for their achievements, local councillor Tracey O'Dwyer commended everyone for their work tirelessly throughout the year in enhancing the landscaping and biodiversity in towns and villages amongst a whole host of other maintenance tasks.
