Kilcullen at the European Parliament
Kilcullen man John Healy spoke at the European Parliament recently as a member of a Young Fine Gael team, writes Brian Byrne.
John was part of a delegation to the European People's Party Group Youth Week held on 4-7 September. During the event, some 800 youth delegates aged 18 to 30 participated in discussions and debates alongside Commissioners, MEPs, policy advisors and external experts.
The themes of the discussions included The Future of Europe’s Economy, A Europe that Protects, A Europe that Creates, Opportunities and Safeguards our Environment, and A Europe of Solidarity. The EPP Group comprises 83 political parties and partners from 44 countries.
John is a former student of CPC and was an active member of Kilcullen AFC and St Anthony’s Youth FC as well as Kilcullen GAA and athletics clubs in Crookstown and Celbridge. Earlier this year he was elected to the position of Leinster Regional Organiser on the Young Fine Gael National Executive. He is currently in his third year studying History & Politics at UCD.
