Planning application for derelict Kilcullen site

The long-derelict Kilcullen building and associated yard on the turn to the Newbridge Road is the subject of a planning application for four terraced houses, writes Brian Byrne.

Forgeworx Construction Ltd proposes the demolition of the derelict building, and the construction of four two-storey dwellings comprising two 2-bedroom houses and two 3-bedroom houses. Car parking for the development will be to the rear of the site, accessed via an archway.

Submissions can be made on the application up to 7 September 2023. The file number is 2360097.

The derelict building was formerly a two-storey building divided into four maisonettes. Long unoccupied, it was damaged by a fire in 2010.

Last year, Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer had asked Kildare County Council to purchase the site with a view to building a youth and community facility there.
