Weather held for Murphy Geospatial Charity Cycle

The rain threatened, but stayed off for the start of the 2023 Murphy Geospatial Charity Cycle today and, with 180 riders registered for the event, two strong groups set out on their 50km and 100km routes respectively, writes Brian Byrne. The funds raised today amount to some €20,000 for the Children's Health Foundation.
For many, it was a welcome return of the event which had been off the calendar since 2020 because of the pandemic. The six cycles held before then had raised a total of €90,000, and with today's result, the total to date is now €110,000. "It was a very generous response from all concerned," the company's Diarmuid Murphy said of today's achievement, also expressing his thanks to the sponsors, helpers, emergency services personnel and Kilcullen Cycling Club.
A selection of our pictures with this post gives an idea of the buzz this morning, which will continue with food, music and children's play treats for the returning participants and their families in the afternoon. You can see all the Diary's pictures from the event here.
