Soft day but bright buzz for Corina Staunton 5K

It's a soft Irish morning for a 5K sponsored walk, but there was a great buzz in Kilcullen Community Centre this morning for the final event in the weekend of 'Coming Together' in memory of the late Corina Staunton, writes Brian Byrne.

On Friday there was a fully-subscribed Golf Classic to kick off the series of fundraising events in aid of the Cancer Care Research Trust. There was also a very strong support for the 80s-themed disco in O'Connell's Bar on Friday evening, which included a big raffle.

Full details of the fundraising results will be provided at a later stage, but the Diary understands people have given very generous support to the project.

Corina passed away last March.
