Kilcullen population increase
The number of people living in Kilcullen increased by 105 between 2016 to 2022, according to figures just released by the Central Statistics Office, writes Brian Byrne.
That brings the official population to 3,815, as estimated in the last census. It is probable that figure has been increased further since the census was taken. There were fewer males resident in Kilcullen than females, 1,861 male and 1,954 female. A third of the people living in Kilcullen were born in Dublin.
The population density in Kilcullen is 207 people per sq kilometre, which compares with 73 people per sq kilometre across the State and 11,363 in Rathmines West B Dublin electoral area.
Naas has overtaken Newbridge as the Kildare town with the largest population, now officially standing at 26,180, an increase of 4,787 between the censuses.
Just over a third (33.9pc) of people living in Kildare were born in the county, with 47.6pc born elsewhere in Ireland and 18.6pc born outside Ireland.
