Design to prevent bridge car impacts

Kildare County Council has come up with a design which will prevent out of control cars mounting the footpath at the bridge.
Following a meeting between the area engineer and Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, a design has been agreed, and is currently being priced.
The bridge has been hit four times over the last few months, causing extensive damage to the wall, the path and posts including the points of interest signpost.
The councillor is hopeful that the works will be carried out in coming months. She has also asked that the road into the square be resurfaced at the same time, describing it as being 'like a patchwork quilt'.
