Writers group congratulates winning poets

At a lively meeting of the Kilcullen Creative Writers Group in Woodbine Books last evening, members John Martin and Fiona Maher were congratulated for jointly winning the recent JuneFest 2023 Poetry Competition, writes Brian Byrne.

Both read their winning entries. John's Alpha and Omega reflects on the early and latter days of life, while Fiona's The Shape-Shifting Old Beour is a somewhat different look at St Brigid.

Congratulating them on 'an amazing achievement', group moderator Ilona Blunden said "we're all very proud of you."

The group, a Kilcullen initiative for the Brigid 1500 year of celebration, is taking a break for the summer and the next meeting will be on 13 September.
