Free courses for writers, places limited
A series of course events for writers in libraries around Kildare in July and September will offer masterclasses in poetry, food writing, memoir, and podcasting-radio techniques by established writers, writes Brian Byrne.
They are part of the Connections Through Literature 2023 series by Kildare Library Services in association with the Irish Writers Centre.
They begin with a Zoom event, 'This Modern Life', a Poetry Masterclass with Rachel Long, on Thursday 13 July from 6pm-8pm. Apply by 12 noon on Wednesday 5 July 2023 and applicants will be notified of decisions by Friday 7 July. The link for applications is here.
'Life Writing on Food & Drink' with Rosie Schaap will be held on Saturday 15 July from 10am-5pm in Celbridge Community Library. Limited to 10 participants, apply by 12 noon on Wednesday 5 July 2023. Applicants will be notified of decisions by Friday 7 July. Application link here.
'Writing for Podcasts and Radio' with Zoƫ Comyns will take place on Saturday 2 September from 10am-4.30pm in Leixlip Community Library. Limited to 12 participants, applications will be accepted up to Friday 18 August 2023. Applicants will be notified of decisions by Friday 25th of August. The application link is here.
'The Road to a Debut: Writing the First Poetry Collection', with Nithy Kasa, will be held on Thursday 7, 14, & 21 September, from 6.30pm-8pm in Newbridge Community Library.
