Dunlavin Arts Festival celebrates its 40th this weekend
The 40th Dunlavin Arts Festival is happening this weekend, celebrating art, theatre, music, crafts and much more, writes Brian Byrne.
The milestone anniversary event begins on Thursday evening at 8pm with a session of readings from the Dunlavin Writers and music from the Milltown Singers, from 8pm in the Imaal Hall.
The evening will also feature members of the Ukraine community living in Dunlavin and Baltinglass.
The official opening is Friday night at the Market House Gallery, and the weekend will include street theatre, puppet shows, drumming workshops, céili sessions, a community barbecue, and a Vikings exhibition in the park on the Saturday.
Highlight events will feature Rosemary O'Loughlin's one-woman show based on whether Shakespeare actually wrote what he's famous for, and an exhibition from Blessington-based art group Cruthú.
And lots, lots more for everyone, families, children and all. Join in the celebration craic.
