Kilcullen poet's latest works

Two poems by Kilcullen-born Daragh Byrne have just been published in Wild Court, an international poetry journal hosted in the English Department of King's College, London. Both are recollections of life in The Hideout when it was in the ownership of the Byrne family.
Daragh, son of Josephine and the late Des Byrne, formerly of The Hideout, is based in Sydney, Australia, and in 2022 his work appeared in Poetry Wales, Southword, Crannóg, Skylight 47 and Abridged, amongst others. He also won 3rd prize in the Poetry London Competition and was shortlisted for the Val Vallis award. He runs the Sydney Poetry Lounge, a regular open-mic night.
These two poems are based on memories of growing up in The Hideout, one relating to the time when Good Friday was a closed day, and was used to do deep cleaning, painting and renovating, for which many regular customers turned up to help.
(Daragh, who is your editor's nephew, says he was prompted to write 'Back to Life' by this post of mine.)
