CPC students 'walk for water' next week

A 'Walk for Water' by students of CPC on Friday 12 May is aimed at both raising awareness of poor access to safe water by 2.2 billion people, and fundraising towards to provision of a well in a community in the developing world, writes Brian Byrne.
The 1st Year students will do a 3km walk and then collect some water from The Spout in the Valley park to symbolise how many women and children have to trek an average of 6 kilometres a day to access water and carry it home.
The walk will be stewarded by members of the Student Council, 5th year prefects and the Green Schools Committee.
Individuals and businesses are invited to contribute to the initiative through donations or sponsorship for the 'Build a Well' initiative. Donations can be dropped in to the CPC school office.
A similar mini Walk for Water was undertaken by CPC students last year
